Check with whoever sells you the rail pass. I don't know the conditions of the europass but imagine they have a "Terms and Conditions" section of their site. Have fun! Dan 1 Danny Audette Post Count: 7 Msg: #3 157 days ago, February 19th 2008 | I traveled throughout Europe by train. Although it was a good experience overall...you need to be prepared. Even with 1st class rail pass you'll need to make reservations for each train. Sometimes you'll end up having to pay extra for a seat. We were even told that there were no seats for us on a train to Amsterdam from Brussels, but after questioning there were seats if we wanted to pay full price for a ticket(even though we had a rail pass).
