SGC Sarah Canez Post Count: 2 Msg: #1 252 days ago, February 4th 2008 | Traveling to Paris, Aix-en-Provence, Cote D\'azur in June - any good restaurants (cheap) suggested? | Sorola Matt Sorola Post Count: 41 Msg: #2 251 days ago, February 5th 2008 | It’s hard to recommend a specific place in the city, especially one that is cheap. Once you take price out of the equation, location is rather easy. Instead of heading to a specific restaurant you hear is cheap, just gauge some of the items on the menu from places you are around, such as margarita pizza or a baguette, to find a cheap place wherever you end up. | Menus will be clearly posted at the front of most restaurants, and looking isn’t a bad thing. For a margarita pizza, you shouldn't pay more than 6 Euro. Medium baguette, around 4-5 Euro. -Matt SGC Sarah Canez Post Count: 2 Msg: #3 251 days ago, February 5th 2008 | Any good cheap places on the Ile St. Louis or near that area? | Sorola Matt Sorola Post Count: 41 Msg: #4 251 days ago, February 5th 2008 | As you go past Notre Dame, cross the Pont Saint-Louise bridge onto Ile Saint-Louis. Just as you hit the intersection of Quai d'Orleans, to the right is a small bistro of sorts. I found the cheapest gelato in Paris there (1 Euro), and their sandwiches and pasteries are very reasonably priced. | I do believe they have a service charge for sitting down outside. If it isnt really busy, or the sun isnt out, you might be able to talk them into waiving it for you. Hope that helps a bit. -Matt PhilC Phil C Post Count: 14 Msg: #5 223 days ago, March 4th 2008 | If you google "Cheap Eats Paris" (or wherever) you'll find useful links like these on About.com: http://gofrance.about.com/od/parisdining/Where_to_Eat_in_Paris_Paris_Dining_and_Restaurant_Guide.htm | deleted_63974 deleted Post Count: 4 Msg: #6 222 days ago, March 5th 2008 | there is a restaurant in aix called "chez maxime" is just off rue bedarrides. it is one of the best, most authentic places to eat and it is totally reasonably priced. pasta cosy is really really good as well and the waiter speaks english and he is the funniest guy ever. | in paris if you go on Rue Gisard in the 6th arrondisement (st. germain) you will find some really cute, smaller restaurants that are less over priced than most. <SNIP> hope this helps! This is is not a luxurious place, but the food is very good, generous, and price is quiet good. You ge the feeling you are in an old tavern where fishermen eat. sexy1963 Sara Gower Post Count: 7 Msg: #8 96 days ago, July 9th 2008 | All over France you will find restu arants in supermarkets called Flunch. They're all really cheap and you ge a lot of good quailty food for little money1! Highly recommeded! If not thjis one then try the branches of restuarnts called 'Hippotame', in most big cities. Please ask for any more quesionts! x | aurelien Aurelien Post Count: 3 Msg: #9 80 days ago, July 25th 2008 | There's a few things you should about restaurants in France, because it's quite different from the US: prices are service included, so you only give a tip if the service was really good (and no more than 2-3 euros generally)? There might be a surcharge if you want to eat outside (but it's not systematic). And there are no doggy bags, so you could not bring with you what you didn't ate! | Menus are always indicated outside the restaurant. You can find good restaurants for 10-15 euros, it depends where. There are not many things to do in Ile St louis, apart from walking there to see old Paris. Most restaurants there are for tourists and quite expensive. St Michel is also for tourists, but as there are plenty of restaurants, prices are reasonnable. But quality and cleanliness is not the same everywhere, so open your eyes, and resist to the waiters that are trying to attract you in there place. I only recommand chains to buy meals to take, there are good sandwiches in Pomme de pain, Bonne journée, la Brioche Dorée, etc...or in citycentre supermarkets (Monoprix, Franprix, etc...). Fast food are only Mc Donalds and Quick. Chain restaurants in Paris do not worth the price: you can find nice brasseries for the same price, far more typical.
