Is a visit to Meteora from Athens worth the 2 full days required to make this an enjoyable trip? Some people have told me it's the heart of mainland Greece and we should not miss it. What do you think? Would the bus or intercity train get us to Kalambaka quicker? Also, we are planning on going to Crete for two days. We would like to see the Heraklion Archaeological Museum and Minoan site of Knossos on day one and than the Samaria Gorge on day two? We are going to fly into Iraklio and make that our headquarters and we were going to rent a car. Is two days enough to get a flavor for Crete? Any suggestions how we can make the most of our limited time in Crete? Thank you Frank tkapet Thodoris Kapetanakis Post Count: 1 Msg: #2 169 days ago, February 6th 2008 | Hello there. I think 2 days are not much for Crete. Crete is a big island. | Also take in mind that: -Samaria gorge is not all year open for public. It opens only after repair from rains and stone falls during the winter. This happen usually between April and May depend the weather conditions. -If you plan to pass hole gorge,Samaria gorge is ~17km so it is not a good idea to go there with your car.You will have to walk other 17 km to go back to your car. The most of the people go the there with buss and from Agia Roumeli(end of gorge) with boat to another village. No cars,no roads in Agia Roumeli. hope that helped, thodoris Number of Users: 2 | Number of Posts: 2 | ||||||||||
