Now It´s summer in Peru and It´s time to enjoy a great vacation in here. You can visit Cuzco, "City of the Incas", and also another great places such as Arequipa and its great Canyon Colca, Puno where you can see "The Titicaca Lake" considerated the highest lake in the world, in Ica if you are interested to see something awesome you can overflight the Enigmatics Lines of Nazca, Lima known "City of the Kings",in Puno, you can take a boat and to have the chance to visit 2 floating islands called Uros & Taquile. I studied Tourism in my country and if you are planning to go to peru and you need more information do not hesitate to contact me.

I've looked up in a few travel books and they all say that from November onwards isn't a good time to go, as it's the rainy season. Is this true? Will it affect any activities?

I just came back from Peru... visited Cusco and etc... had an amazing time! People are incredibly friendly, the sites are breathtaking... besides the altitude sickness in Cusco, everything was just great!

Hi Liam:

Well, about your question it´s right since November to March is rainy season in the country zone of Peru. But this doesn´t affect any kind of activity in that side. For example Machu Picchu it´s open all the year except in February because it´s closed for maintenance but the rest of year it´s open to the public.

Hi Elizabeth

I am currently in Chile and am looking at going to Peru in about 10 days. We are thinking of going to cuzco from Tacna and going to Machu Piccu. I´m not how many days to allow, if there is anywhere else nearby worth visiting and how much tours to machu piccu are. Any tips would be great.

Hi Michela:

About your question there are no buses from Tacna to Cuzco , I recommend you to take a bus from Tacna to Arequipa (5h30min aprox) and then Arequipa to Cuzco (10 hours aprox). This is the website of a Bus Station in Lima www.cruzdelsur.com.pe, there you can find more information about the prices and itineraries. Besides Cuzco you can visit Arequipa It´s a great place where you can visit the Canyon Colca. A tour to Machu Picchu cost $170 aprox but if you decide to do the inca trail to Machu Picchu, it is cost around $ 300 aprox. If you have another question i would be glad to help you.

hi i have just booked my flight to chile for september
i would like to do the inca trail, can you tell me
what sort of preparations i should start?
i.e exercise etc.
how do you adjust to the different altitude?
and is the trek hard?

one more thing, i am getting my chilean passport, iv heard that if you are
a citizen in south america you can do the trek cheaper? is this correct?

Hi, i am planning to go to peru in Ocotber for around a month, and i need some advice from experienced travellers about how I can get about on my own? How easy is it to get buses? trains? getting from lima to macchu picchu etc?? How much dd people get their flights from london? And do yo have to book the machu pichu in advance? I am hesitate to book a whole tour trip with gap adventures, is it possible to do it solo?

Hi there

I travelled to Peru from Chile by bus via Tacna, then Arequippa (great city) and then Cuzco/Machu Picchu and then did the whole thing back down to Chile. Check out cruz del sur buses. You can buy tickets off their website if you book at least 48 hours in advance. You can also buy train tickets to Machu Picchu on http://www.orient-express.com/web/tper/journeys/4_52630.jsp Best to book as far in advance as possible because they go quickly. Tickets for entry to Machu Picchu can be bought from an office in Cuzco when you arrive, as long as you buy them a few days prior and after your train tickets you will have no problem. Any information office should be able to direct you to where the ticket office is. The sacred Valley is definitely worth a visit, Ollaytantambo is a great little town with more breath taking ruins. I didn't actually do the inca trail so can't give advice here except that you need to book it asap because it seems to book out really quickly. Apparently the other trails are just as good if not better though. Only other things I would say are make sure you give yourself enough days to acclimatise at higher altitudes before heading to Machu Picchu, you can get good accommodation at bargain prices if you just walk around and ask and of course bargain, also there are some great restaurants down a small lane off the main square in Cuzco. If you ask for the menu of the day you can get a 3 course meal with a soft drink and wine for around 10 Soles which is less than 2 pounds. I absolutely loved Peru so if you have any more queries Ill do my best to help.
