My brother Asher Green has been missing in Peru since Nov. 3rd. In his last email on the evening of the 3rd from the town of Chivay (near Arequipa) he said he’s leaving the next day to trek in Colca Canyon for approximately a week. We haven’t heard from him since. Police expeditions into the canyon and large scale investigations have given us no trace of him. Two members of the family are at the canyon at the moment conducting more searches. If you saw him or have any advice or help to offer please contact us immediately.

Description: He is around 175 cm tall, well built - a bit chubby, green eyes, short light brown hair. He has a big scar on his right cheek. He is traveling with an American passport, as well as an Israeli one. He speaks fluent American English and Hebrew, some Spanish.

From a thorntree thread:

We still havn't found any trace of asher, though four different groups of people are looking for him: (1) the mountain police, who are working closely with my brother in law (2) the federal police, working under presedential orders (3) the peruvian detectives we hired (4) local people with eyes on the prize.

We are now putting togther a search and rescue team from Israel, to intensefy the ground search in the canyon before the rainy season comes in full power. The criminal posibility will also be further investigated.

... We found Asher's name on the bus list from Arequipa to Chivay, and we received his last email from Chivay, so he didn't run into trouble in Arequipa for sure. We didn't find his name on any othe papers along the way.
