Bringing Cigarettes into Canada

How many can i bring and how much are tax and duties

im in the phillippines right now (been here for six months) and ive discovered that cigarettes are very cheap here. im returning to canada in a week...does anybody know how many cigarettes im allowed to bring back and the duties and tax for anything over the duty free amount?

Hi. Hope this helps...

Duty free limit: 200 cigarettes, 200 tobacco sticks, 50 cigars, and 200 gram loose tobacco.

Duty on over the limit: $15 per carton of cigarettes, $7 per 200 tobacco sticks, $6 per 200g loose tobacco. In addition, you will have to pay provincial tobacco tax and provincial sales tax. (Sorry, I don't have specifc tax information for the different provinces.)

Finally, if you go over the personal $ exemption limit, you will have to pay GST.
