i will be 19 (girl) next year and i want to travel to Bosnia where my family is. I was wondering how is it to travel alone around the airports? I wouldn't be alone while i am there because i have family and friends, but i want to try and convince my mum that i can travel alone as i want to be more independent. Advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Don't be afraid to ask anyone for help, be it airport staff or fellow travelers. Odds are they aren't a jerk and would be happy to help you out.

Honestly, when it comes to traveling alone, airports are one of the easiest aspects. If you've never done the whole aiport thing alone, my best advice is to know your gate information. Once you get into to the concourse, go strait to the monitors and double check your gate info. Then head to the gate. If you have the time, wander around not far from your gate (so you can hear any announcements). Get to your gate at least 45 minutes before departure, especially for international flights.

If you have connecting flights, feel free to ask the airline desk if they know your connecting flight gate information. If not, go strait to the monitors and check once you land (you should do this regardless).

If you're going to be in an airport of a country that you don't speak the language, it never hurts to learn a couple phrases, "Excuse me" "Do you speak..." etc.

As long as you know your flight and gate info, you should be fine. Airports are clearly marked and as zagfan1 said above, don't be afraid to ask for information.

Good luck and have fun!
