I'd stay away from the Northern Pacific Coast (Guanacaste province). They are experiencing water quantity and water quality issues. On the Central Pacific, check out Los Suenos Resort & Marina. It has all the amenities of a North American resort..back-up electricity, safe drinking water, championship golf (par-72), tennis, 12 restaurants, two spas, shops, international marina, beach club. Jaco is a surf town that is quickly being transformed by the construction of many North American-style condos. Given that supply is outpacing demand, you can likely get a good deal on a rental of 30-90 days. Jaco has grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, nightlife, nice beach. Hermosa Palms is a gated community 10 minutes south of Jaco. Rumor has it that Tom Brady (New England Patriots quarterback) and his girlfriend Giselle just purchased a place there. You can probably rent a 3-bedroom villa for $2500 per month or so if you rent for 2 or more months. We may be able to help you with a mid-term or long-term rental.
