Hello, any accommdation advice for Laos, Cambodia and Thailand? Thanks!

I am going for just over 3 weeks to these 2 countries. I am 23 and travelling alone so I would perfer to stay somewhere closer to towns and safer areas. I am on a budget and would like to stick to no more then $15 a night for a good room etc. Any suggestions would be great!!!

Luang Prabang, Vietanne
Siem Reap, Phenom Penh

if you are interest i could send you the email (in MP) of my girlfriend, she work to tourism office in chiang mai (thailand), and she do also visa, booking hotels, fly & transfert for customers for cambodia, vietnam, laos, china and burma, also.
is it easy and confortable, it isn't?

Hi Lindsay,

We travelled in SEA last year and used www.travelfish.org for alot of our accommodation. 95% of the time the reviews were spot on. We gave up on travel guides after the first country...they were by in large out dated and only leaded you into contrived situations. You should have no problems on your budget. Cambodia will probably cost you a bit more than Laos but don't worry about it, it will balance out in the end. Have a great time. EdAm

Less than $15 dollars a night should get you luxury!! Tv, air con and a private bathroom with hot water in a private room in Cambodia comes for less a lot of the time. Last year we stayed at Spring Guesthouse in Phnom Penh which was immaculate - they changed the beds and cleaned every day! Would definitely recommend it although I think it is listed in Lonely Planet (boo hiss) so can get booked out (although we turned up early in the day and didn't have any probs). Only downside was that there was no 'social area' so you are unlikely to meet any other travellers there if you are looking for company. In Siem Reap we stayed at Green Village which was a bit of a trek from the main touristed streets in the town centre but around $1 in a tuk tuk. Very similar set up to Spring Guesthouse and pretty new build so again, immaculate. They had outside seating and some couches in the reception area so a bit more sociable if you are tired after a days sightseeing, can't be bothered going into town but still want some company! The staff in both places were really friendly and helpful too. Hope that helps and enjoy your trip!
