Hi!,

Me and my freinds are travelling to portugal/spain in Oct, will be in portugal for only 3 days. Will arrive Lisbon on 13th afternoon and leaving 16th morning. I know it is very short time but, please suggest how we can make best use of this time....

What all is must see, must do and must eat and drink

Cheers!!!

Hi, one of the good things about Lisbon is that while its a beautiful, fascinating city it is quite compact so it's possible to get a feel for it and see lots of the top sites in only a few days- try doing that in London! On one of your first days I'd suggest a trip to the castle of St Jorge- as not only is the castle quite interesting but you get to walk up little winding cobbled streets where artists work and from the castle you get a great birdseye view of the city and estuary. There are quite a few walking tours available that will take you to lots of the important sites and tell you all about the history of the city and some bizarre or funny stories. They might be a good way of getting the most from the city in a short time. There's some information about them on this site http://www.portugal-sport-and-adventure.com/walks-lisbon.html. Lisbon has lots of historical and cultural things to see but its also a great city for just sitting outside a cafe and people watching. If you fancy doing something different check out the Oceanarium -it's by far the biggest and most beautiful aquarium I've ever seen its in Parque dos Nacoes- you can get there on the metro.
The Barrio Alto district (up the hill from the centre) is probably the most interesting, and coolest place to go out at night with lots of little bars and restaurants. While you're in Lisbon you should eat seafood, bacalhau com natas- a really yummy creamy cod bake and a pastel de nata (like a custard tart) in Belem.
If you do decide to head out of town Cascais and Sintra are well worth a visit.
Have a great trip I'm sure you'll fall in love with Lisbon as I did.
