Is it best to try and book a tour from La Paz or should you travel to Uyuni first? I'd appreciate any information Thanks Enrique Christiano Erik Broekhuizen Post Count: 21 Msg: #2 412 days ago, August 30th 2007 | Definitively go to Uyuni first, lots of agencies over there. I had good experiences with an agency called "cordillera" or something like that. I think it was also mentioned in the Lonely Planet. Good food, good places to sleep, no complaints at all. Only i did the trip in reverse from San Pedro de Atacama in Chile, they have an office overthere as well. | Lynz and Ross Lynsey G & Ross O Post Count: 10 Msg: #3 411 days ago, August 31st 2007 | Thanks for that. I thought that would be the best idea but just wanted to check. | Thanks again Lozzie Lauren Morley Post Count: 6 Msg: #4 409 days ago, September 2nd 2007 | Hey Lynz! | I went from Tupiza and did a 4 day Jeep tour which finished in Uyuni for $140 US. I Went with Valle Hermano, but Tupiza tours are also good (my friends went with them). But if you are coming from La Paz and heading south it may be easier to start in Uyuni and definately book it there. It was freezing in Uyuni so bring warm clothes (esp for the Salar tour),have fun and buy many wool finger puppets! Oh and try the pizza at Minuteman pizza in Uyuni, its the best. Do you know if they have english speaking guides? Two months til I go and I can not wait!!! x Lozzie Lauren Morley Post Count: 6 Msg: #6 408 days ago, September 3rd 2007 | No, sorry im not sure, do you speak any Spanish? If not, you may be lucky enough to have another traveller in the jeep who can speak both English and Spanish, if they dont mind translating for you. Your chances are quite high, there was a wholes load of gringos everywhere. Good luck and have loads of fun! | travel_addicted Alexina & Sarah Post Count: 28 Msg: #7 392 days ago, September 19th 2007 | Hi, | I did my tour with Tonito tours and we asked for a tailor made tour as we only had one day. I'm not entirely sure if I asked but we ended up without an English speaking tour guide. Whilst our driver/tour guide was lovely and we were able to get the gist of things from the few Spanish words we knew it would have been a far more successful tour with an English speaking guide. Make sure you ask for one first. Otherwise I wouldn't have any complaints about Tonito. Hope you have a great time Lynz and Ross Lynsey G & Ross O Post Count: 10 Msg: #8 392 days ago, September 19th 2007 | Thanks for that tip.
