On the central coast of Venezuela you can find Puerto Cabello. A city that possesses one of two ports of major economic and historical importance of the country. The port was established in the middle of the 16th century, due to its strategic location that was allowing comfortably the arrival of entire fleets of the Spanish navy. To the neighborhood of this one, there was growing the population that nowadays we know as the city.

The Port turned during the settling into an important point for the trade, since it was considered to be one of the best ports of the new world: from here there was going out the cocoa, the coffee, the cotton and the índigo to the Dutch islands.

The streets of the colonial zone preserve the architectural beauty of the epoch, with their beautiful houses and their paved streets, which make evoke a historical and notable past.

In the levee, it is possible to observe the sea, besides the investor castle de San Felipe, also known as the Castle of the Liberator, which served as refuge of the city in the colonial period, since the pirates were stalking it constant.

In the entry of the city is the Fortin Solano, a building located and constructed in 1732 by the Of Guipuzcoana Company. From here the whole city can be viewed and especially its port.

By the Bolivar square there are located the Town council and the Beautiful Church of San Jose, constructed with coralífera stone.

Hello,
Your description of Puerto Cabello is great. I am working on a World Geography project on Venezuela right now, and I was wondering if you could tell me some more about Puerto Cabello. The main part of my project is to imagine that I am a teacher teaching in one of the cities in Venezuela. Could you please tell me about some daily life, and what school is like? Thank You so much. Your information will be cited.
