I think Marrakech got the best attractions. All Moroccan cities are lovely and each place is different than other. Even villages in the haut Atlas are amazing. You have to visit the old medina with the nice riads, shops, tanneries, mosques and houses with arabic andalusian design...It is a bit like marrakech but quiet with different life style ...Many English people bought houses and riads there to live in this magic place...people are friendly and life is not expensive. Fez Medina ...where you will feel that you are back on time...it is really interesting to experience it. The north is totally different: there is more spanish Andalusian and portuguese influence in everything...Tangier is just 9 miles from Spain on the ferry. Asilah is located about 30 miles from Tangier and it is moving in properties, tourism and investment very fast. Fes is also a wonderful place! I just visited the Qaraouiyan Library... I tried to discover the wonders of Moroccan literature there.. =) I'm kinda tired of going to the different attractions so what I do now is just walk aimlessly around the area near my accommodation... haha! It is a quiet relaxing seafront town like Essaouira but with nice long sandy beaches. Lots of investment in properties and tourism moving fast because the place is just beautiful from Larache to Tangier and from Tangier to Seuta, to Marina Smir, Cabo Negro, Martil, Tetouan, Chefchaouen with Rif Mountains. It was the perfect charming little African town. Sleepy, no tourists, got a cheap room with a balcony overlooking the market. | From what I've heard, it's not the same anymore. Guess you'll have to keep looking! I love it too... I am going there in July. It hapaned to me when i wanted to talk about Asilah. They like promoting big cities especially Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat,... And i know why...Its promoting their own businesses...Since that i decided to avoid talking about Asilah in a site like that...There many websites that people really trust but unfortuntly there is always hidden marketing for their business. As a responsible traveler i prefer to empower the small little places and local people. The best way to know the country, the culture and the people...I dont wanna stay in 5 stars hotel with night club, swimming, bars, restaurants...in a big city..in this case its a waste of money because i do not get any experience from my holiday...The real travel is to meet local people, to know their culture, to make new friends, to learn the language and other new interesting stuff... Many Tourism and travel companies promote responsible tourism and environmentally friendly travel but they have nothing to do with that..they do not support the local people with jobs, they do not care about the environment or the culture. Been there a few times with my friends for a few birthdays and we have all had a great time. There's loads of things to do. The Royal Palace and the Merenid Tombs were personal highlights. I still want to discover some places there. | I have been to few cities, towns and villages. My favourite city is absolutely Marrakech and around Marrakech like Ouarika valley. Whenever I visit Morocco I should visit Marrakech at least couple of days. My second favourtie place is Esaouira. I have been there once during the Gnaoua Festival last year in 2007. It was amazing festival and amazing old town there. I will in Marrakech on 2nd October for 1 week and be back again in November for couple of weeks.
