Hi guys. Could you give me some advice? I would like to visit Poland, especialy Auschwitz. I am very interested with history of these places and I would like to see them by myself...but the only travel agency I know, which manage this kind of trips is escape2poland that I went to an Auschwitz tour with. Could anyone suggest me another good firm? Thank you for any answers! Greetings

I've been to Aushwitz and just gone throught the whole place on my own, reading the tablets with info that they provide. Next time I go, I'll probably get a guide that works for the museum. I did read someone's blog that they bought the book about Aushwitz at the bookstore there and it came in very handy. Sorry I cant be much more help. Enjoy your trip, its a real eye-opener.

Hi,
It is one of the most popular trips from Krakow, so booking it is very easy at every single TI office + many accomodation www for Krakow offer that service as well or can help arrange it. By the way for anyone coming to Krakow and hesitating to use an online booking system the one provided here <snip> is known for being intuitive and easy but most importantly reliable and safe. Enjoy your stay in Krakow, the historical landmark in Poland!

Hello Macias :)

Booking a tour to Auschwitz would be a waste of money since it is so easy to get there by train and bus and as LivingLive says there is plenty of information to read and plenty to see without the help of a tour. Also as LivingLife says it may be better to get a guide who works for the museum. They would have a better understanding than a random tour company who is more interested in making money than telling us about what happened in Auschwitz.

To get there independently:
Take a train to Auscwitz-Birkenau from Krakow. Busses also go from Krakow to Auscwitz-Birkenau if you prefer. From Auscwitz-Birkenau there is an easy to find local bus which goes to Auschwitz. Ask anyone where to catch it. Or else you can walk the 3KM. Also taxis are readily available to take you there.

That depends on sb's style as far as travelling goes, one could say that buying vegetables in a shop is a waste as you can grow them themselves :)
You can't be positive about the fact that all guides working for the museum are passionate about their job, and that comes out of my experience as well as not all tour guides and companies watch their bank account only, that's an oversimplification,
Sorry about my promotional tone of previous post
