I want one! - throw out your iPods and get a look at this little beauty...
Back in Asia in the backmalls of Kuala Lumpur's electronic district, I stumbled on the creative vision zen, sleek black and sporting a fabulous 3.7inch high color and contrast screen capable of playing virtually every form of video. I wanted one... but at the price only 30gb?
Just a few days ago
Creative launched the
Zen Vision W - the screen is now 16:9, 4.5inchs, weighs 300g and features a 60gb harddrive...
So this is the item currently top of my gadget wishlist. Anyone got one?
Rio Forge 256mb - my current MP3 player...
Reply to this Hey Ali, I'm planning on getting this lovely PMP in April. I'll let you know how it is. I did play around with one in the store and it looks so nice. The screen is really clear, photos look amazing on it. I'll be getting the 60G one so I can use it as a harddrive and store my photos on it from any trips I take to unload my camera (with the extra card reader I'll have to buy).
Cant wait till April!!!
Cheers.
Reply to this I had a look in the plazas in KL a few days a go - was surprised how expensive they were - more than in Europe - on the grey market... £255 - the US price seems to be about $375 - on froogle anyway.
Reply to this I found them for $359 CAD in Canada....cheaper than in the US....yey
=D
Reply to this The PSP is another nice piece of kit as well - imagine one of those with an integrated 60gb hard-drive!
I have a Zen Vision W now - it is really nice. Caveats are that it doesn't interface well with Mac's, it requires conversions for many video types, a little slow with fast forwarding/rewinding. Overall I'm happy with it, it won't replace my laptop but for me works a whole lot bet than an iPod, it's about the same size as one of the original iPods - bigger than the current generation.
For photos the display is really nice, great for show casing best shots, it has good battery life on mp3 player mode.
I wish there was a little flip out stand on the case.
Reply to this A year on - well nearly - I've watched a ton of movies on it on budget airlines and buses.
And it's also been used as a photo storage device - copying 4gb compact flash cards onto the 60gb hard drive - allow me to shoot in Raw more often.
One problem - it lost the entire contents one afternoon for no reason - I had to reset it - which involved a weird combo of key presses at startup. But has worked fine since this.

It was a real pita to get this information originally - key phrase is "recovery mode"
