And it really did cause some panic. In 2003, I was in Paris visiting the Eiffel Tower. My family and I were in line to buy tickets to go up the tower and then suddenly, security guards were running all around, blowing whistles and shooing people out of the area. People were running all around and all I could here was screaming in several languages, none of which sounded like English. And then a guard started pushing me, I asked him what was going on, he pointed upwards. There was a fire at the top of the Eiffel Tower. It was one of the scariest moments in my life...back then I was only 13. Grabbing my younger cousins hand, we ran. | It turns out it was just a minor fire and nothing too serious. I can't imagine the fear that was instilled in people who were actually at the top of the tower on the viewing floors. Being atop on the tallest towers in the world, with terror threats were all over the news, "I'm going to die" was probably running through their minds. Thankfully, no one was injured (I don't think). For more information, I found a news article here: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/07/23/world/a-fire-atop-the-eiffel-tower-startles-paris-and-its-tourists.html Dymphna Lee Ann Post Count: 450 Msg: #3 125 days ago, July 8th 2009 | Did you hear that the woman who missed the Air France flight that went down, died in a car wreck just after that? | Mell Mell Post Count: 13608 Msg: #4 125 days ago, July 8th 2009 | I didnt know anybody survived that crash. Do you mean the one that crashed off the coast of Brazil around a month ago? | HappyMystery Sam Shum Post Count: 28 Msg: #5 125 days ago, July 8th 2009 | I think Dymphna meant that the woman didn't take the Air France flight but ended up dying anyway in a car wreck. Unfortunate huh. I guess when it's "time" to die, you just can't avoid it? | Dymphna Lee Ann Post Count: 450 Msg: #6 125 days ago, July 8th 2009 | Yes, she had missed her flight. And then died in a car wreck. | Mell Mell Post Count: 13608 Msg: #7 124 days ago, July 9th 2009 | I guess when it's "time" to die, you just can't avoid it? ![]() If it is all down to fate, we waste a lot of time worrying and fearing flying because whatever happens will happen one way or another. Dymphna Lee Ann Post Count: 450 Msg: #8 124 days ago, July 9th 2009 | Providence is far more comforting than fate. Fate is what just happens is going to happen. Providence is God's Will in our lives. | Number of Users: 3 | Number of Posts: 8 | ||||||||||||||||||
