Hi,

My boyfriend and i are travelling to India on 19th September for 3 weeks. We would like to see as much as we can but dont really know where to start.

Ideally we would like to do some culture (Taj Mahal etc) wildlife (tigers/camels etc) and adventure (white water rafting, caneoing etc) and then end our holiday with a 5 days to one week beach stay. If we can fit in any festivals and spiritual stuff too that would be an added bonus!

We are happy to stay in hostels, although only ones wtih private rooms and are more than happy to take trains, buses, etc. A camel trek would also be great if you think it is possible to fit in.

Some recommended itinaries would be brilliant.

Look forward to hearing people's ideas :-)

Thanks very much

Hello Claudia

In the north of India you wont really need to stay in hostels. You can get private double rooms in budget hotels for as 5 Euros per night.

Hi Claudia,

During September you can very much see Taj Mahal.....thats a one day trip from Delhi.
You can go in morning thru train or private tourist cab to TajMahal and then come back same day to delhi by late evening.

Wildlife :- There is one JimCorbett National Park...

Adventure:- Go to Ladhkh ..Leh /Manali/Lahaul SPiti valley :- You can get a feel of the place although it might take most of your time ......

Rafting:- can be done in a place called Rishikesh ( u will need to check whether its open in September.for due to monsoons in July there are chances it might not be happening..) near Haridwar about 7 hours - 8 hours bus journey from Delhi

Camel:- Rajasthan is the state u can visit for the same ....from Delhi - go to Jaipur-Jaiselmer-Jodhpur...etc
These places are famous on tourist maps /guides ..even u can do a camping in desert for there are some tour operators.......

Accomodation:- I will advice you to book for first few days i.e 1-2 days ....than u can get a feel of the place and country and then u can pretty much negotiate the way other tourists/foreigners do in India

Hi,

I'm just back from three months in North India : awesome. Letting yourself go is a good thing as you'll never find what you came for and always get so much aside of your own desires.

I've been through Delhi, Varanasi, Bodhgaya, Haridwar, Jaipur, Pushkar, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Agra, Dharamsala and Manali.
