ilchicag Liz Post Count: 52 Msg: #1 169 days ago, May 23rd 2009 | Hey all! | My boyfriend and I are going from Marrakech to Merzouga/Erg Chebbi in a few months and I'm not finding a lot of options for getting there. I'm on a pretty tight schedule and I'd really like to fit a night in the desert into my schedule. Does anyone know a fast, reliable way from Marrakech to Merzouga? I know I'll be missing a lot along the way, but my main goal is to see the Sahara while I'm there. Also if anyone has any good ideas about tours that go into the desert for a night, I'd be glad to hear some opinions! Thanks! kingsoftheriver rockirakat Post Count: 9 Msg: #2 158 days ago, June 3rd 2009 | Hey Ilchicag; | I'm afraid you need at least 3days (2days stil possible; but it will cost you a fortune to hire a car and driver). you still can join a tour, I've experienced the desert in a rented car. and went back to Morocco few monthes ago. My recent trip was a three-days , two-nights; There is that company who arrange desert trips from Marrakesh every 5days I think they have a tour on the November 1st to Nov3 . <snip> [Edited: 11:45 - Mell ] don franco franco albert sanchez Post Count: 2 Msg: #3 156 days ago, June 5th 2009 | hey | I was in Morocco 2 times with organizator of the trips and excurcion .<snip> [Edited: 12:13 - Mell ] ilchicag Liz Post Count: 52 Msg: #4 152 days ago, June 8th 2009 | Thanks everyone! I think I might explore the bus option, even if I have to transfer through Meknes. Though I've read that there is some (perhaps unreliable) public buses that transfer through Ouazazarte and then on to Rissani or Erfoud. | Any other suggestions/insights? don franco franco albert sanchez Post Count: 2 Msg: #5 148 days ago, June 13th 2009 | hi look at this website www.go-maroc.com they will help you. | good luk ebouhier Emilie Bouhier Post Count: 3 Msg: #6 148 days ago, June 13th 2009 | I would suggest to go with <snip> | They offer good services. We were very satisfied with them and their guide and driver was excellent. The public buse is one the better choice via CTM company from Marrekech to Ouarzazate . In Ouarzazate, you could rent 4 WD with driver to Merzouga to spend a night in Merzouga. After, you could head to Méknes from Erfoud before getting you ticket in Ouarzazte. Desert Evasion is very reputable agency in Ouarzazate organizing trips to the desert with good drivers and good services if you would like to get more informed. We spend a couple of days in quarzazate. I think the best option is renting a car. The car give you the freedom to stop where ever you want and believe me there are many place you feel to stop and take a picture. Enjoy in your trip, and good luck.
