I've been reading some articles online about yoga psychology, and one school/ashram I found was the <snip>who offer specific courses in yoga psychology. Does anyone know of other places that teach this perspective of yoga? I'm a practicing psychologist in the US and am interested in finding a way to integrate yoga into my clinical practice. | Thanks! We do this with the posts of new members, to discourage spammers from posting links. Sorry to inconvenience you like this. :) As far as I know, all yoga teaching has a psychological side. Otherwise it would be not more than a stretching exercise. Mel blueriver Beautiful green place in South India with Mountains,River and Sea... BeeYogi Sarah Mhyer Post Count: 3 Msg: #4 31 weeks ago, May 22nd 2009 | Hi mell, | I just wanted to add the name of the ashram to see if anyone has had experience with that specific ashram considering that there are not too many ashrams that offer specific training in yoga psychology. I won't put it back into the post, but perhaps we can re-post it considering the circumstances? Blueriver, I realize that yoga is a psychological process as many of the practice corresponding to yoga are designed to either reform or transcend the mind. But there are some schools that are introducing yoga psychology as a separate discipline for the sake of studying the psychological implications of yoga in a controlled and specialized manner. I have a great appreciation for yoga, and would love to help integrate it into my clinical practice, however the approach we have to take as psychologists must be structured and measurable otherwise it is difficult to administer as a treatment for patients. I have studied at a couple of ashrams in Tamil Nadu, and have herd of one specific ashram that offers courses in yoga psychology. Do you have any suggestions of what ashrams might offer these courses blueriver? BeeYogi Sarah Mhyer Post Count: 3 Msg: #5 31 weeks ago, May 22nd 2009 | p.s. I spent five days in an Ashram, in Haridwar (North India) : Yogananda Ashram. The yogi was very nice even though I wasn't hooked by yoga at that time... I started practicing yoga at Dharamsala, tantric yoga : awesome. <snip> thank you, Olivier Conrardy <snip> [Edited: 13:16 - Mell ] Number of Users: 4 | Number of Posts: 8 | |||||||||||||||||
