My budget is very very very small.. for undestand: where is possible I usually move by hitchhiking sleep in the cheapest place (no hotel or backpackers, no A/C, no private bathroom.. i dont care if there are rat or things like that), don't use any book guide like Lonely Planet or similar, eat in the small street restaurant with local and no drugs/alcool or cigarettes. | Are 700P/day enough??? How much does it cost buses or ferry (approximately)??? And the cheap street food??? And the very cheap accomodation??? Is it safe hitchhiking??? How real is the risk (Also in Sulawesi, Timur Kalimantan and East Sabah many people told me that was not safe but personally I hadn\'t any problem)??? Thanks dprentiss Dale Post Count: 5 Msg: #2 31 weeks ago, May 22nd 2009 | I'm just about to leave for the Philippines but based on my research it depends on where you go. If you stay in the touristy places it will cost more no matter how cheap you are willing to be. So the real question is what do you want to do there? | dprentiss Dale Post Count: 5 Msg: #3 30 weeks ago, May 24th 2009 | Well I don't know how soon I will be able to respond but I would budget at least 15 US Dollars or 750P per day to be safe. Manila and the touristy places will stretch your budget out to at least 25 US Dollars or 1,250P per day. Good Luck! | lupakkio Lupakkio Post Count: 3 Msg: #4 30 weeks ago, May 24th 2009 | Thank a lot.. Unfortunately I always travel without any kind of plans.. so i really don't know where I'll go.!!! I usually don't like busy places.. small villages and maybe same island but don't really know. Do you have any advise? | dprentiss Dale Post Count: 5 Msg: #5 30 weeks ago, May 24th 2009 | wikitravel.com | Tribalinthecity Tribalinthecity Post Count: 2 Msg: #6 30 weeks ago, May 29th 2009 | The philippines is not so expensive, there's a really cool group that does adventure and out-of the box type of tours, I went with them this march. <snip>, check it out. I went with them for ten days and it cost me less than $70 per day. That included all accomodations, really good native food, land transpo around mindanao and all these cultural areas. I got to hang with a tribal chieftan and we even stayed at his place! Oh and they have the best guides. Im thinking of going again maybe next year with a few friends. I checked their website theother day and they have a tour for 6 days ths july that costs roughly $200, and apparently you get to be part of a tv show if you go on. i would go if I didnt spend all my money in march. the philipines rules! | [Edited: 13:38 - Mell ] only i exist Harold Post Count: 9 Msg: #7 28 weeks ago, June 6th 2009 | the cheapest places in provinces like Palawan would cost 600 pesos/night. If you have company you can get a decent room for 900 pesos which you can share. That room wont have airconditioning. Food and transportation per day would cost about 300 pesos if you keep it to the minimum. Sagada is a great place where you wont have to spend much money and a room would only cost 500 pesos a day | only i exist Harold Post Count: 9 Msg: #8 28 weeks ago, June 6th 2009 | You can go to San Vicente in Palawan. A room would cost 600 pesos a day. San Vicente is Palwans undiscovered gem. Check out my blog i have pictures. Its not a touristy place. I never saw tourists there but its such a beautiful place and so quiet. You'd have the 18 kilometer white sand beach all to yourself. Seriously, you wont see anyone else on the beach except some fishermen when they sail to catch fish. So dont go alone, its rather sad. I am from the Philippines by the way. If you wanna go cheap in Palawan, San Vicente is the place to go. And do book early because developments are on their way in San Vicente. The construction of the new airport in Palawan will start there next year. Food would cost about 150/day. A shuttle ride from Puerto Princesa city where the airport is would cost 200 pesos to San Vicente. Airfare from Manila to Palawan is about 5000 to 6000 pesos. | louis louis rubigny Post Count: 1 Msg: #9 22 weeks ago, July 21st 2009 | what is the cost of living in Manila(food cooked at home,3bedrooms apartment /house rental, maid) | only i exist Harold Post Count: 9 Msg: #10 21 weeks ago, July 28th 2009 | decent house in a gated village with security= P50000 | maid- P5000 home cooked food= P15000 thats just about $1500 a month Number of Users: 5 | Number of Posts: 10 | ||||||||||||||||||
