Hello Bert 😊

Here are a couple of related threads.

The Swine Flu Pandemic

Swine flu outbreak in Mexico city

I am going to India on Saturday and am moderately worried about Swine flu. Here in Germany they seem to be pretty careful about finding and isolating people who have it, but I dont know how careful they will be in the UAE where I have to stop for 4 hours and in India.

Hi Mel
You are right but one of the concerns is that asian countries like China and other ones sometimes are a bit too enthousiastic with quarantaine. I don t want to think about quarantaine in China or Vietnam and Cambodja

I think I am getting a cold at the moment. I hope that wont make the authorities in UEA and India suspect Swine flu and haul me off for tests next weekend.

Last time I went to China there was no swine flu and they were still a bit weird about health stuff. They gave me a form at immigration to tick off all illnesses and symptoms I have. 2 foreigners in front of me were taken away someplace for I dont know what, but they thankfully just let me pass through without too much fuss.

At least if they do quarantine you, you will have a story to tell us. :D Reply to this

Thankfully India has not had a single positive case of swine flu - fingers crossed & hoping the media is being honest.

They are being very careful at the airport and using face masks for protection. If you dont have obvious signs or symptoms of flu - they wont bother you at the airport :-) Reply to this

I work in the healthcare industry and there is really nothing to worry about, no more than any other normal flu.

If you are fit and generally healthy you should be fine, obviously don't go mixing with people who are coughing and sneezing and so on....lol.

I have recently travelled to Europe, North America and wasn't concerned at all, no problem.

Blown up out of all proportion is the saying I think you will find....! Reply to this

I think the fuss about the flu is now dying down. It was a big deal at the airports on my way to India a couple of weeks ago. One my way back to Germany a couple of days ago, there was barely a mention of it at the airports.
