Post Count: 60 Msg: #1 40 weeks ago, April 1st 2009 | Has anyone ever found a longtime partner while traveling..whether a native of the country you were visiting or another traveler? | Jo Trouble Jo McCarthy Post Count: 3181 Msg: #2 40 weeks ago, April 2nd 2009 | Hi Greg, | Here's an earlier related thread; Foreign Affairs Mell Mell Post Count: 15453 Msg: #3 40 weeks ago, April 2nd 2009 | Hello Greg | When I moved to London, England, I met and travelled with my ex. We were together for a year before work permits and university courses took us to opposite sides of the world. I met my current boyfriend when he moved to Ireland(where I am from) from the Netherlands for a job(I suppose moving to another country is travelling of sorts) . We have been together for 9 years and now live in Munich, Germany. It's bound to happen for some... especially if they're the hopeless romantic type, like myself. | My travel tryst was a bit less innocent and happily ever after than Mell's was, however. Travel makes you do things you wouldn't do back home, I suppose. I'm miserably attracted to Irishmen. There. I said it! :P Mell Mell Post Count: 15453 Msg: #7 26 weeks ago, July 3rd 2009 | My travel tryst was a bit less innocent and happily ever after than Mell's was, however. ![]() I had a few 'not happily ever after' and 'not happy at all' ones too. :D Did you meet the guy in your profile pic, while you were travelling Audrey? I did meet him as a result of my travels... and I ended up moving across the country to be with him, though. | (He's the Andrey...I'm Jess ;) Though...I should start calling him Audrey cause he whines like a girl sometimes hahaha). I'm actually putting my blog together to tell the story of how traveling helped me meet him. Should be quite outrageous when I am through. I've done a lot at the ripe age of 22. Travel makes you fall in love faster, harder, and do stupider things, I think. But, revelations are made, and I think often stronger bonds can be made for life. I can think of two really happy, strong couples that came out of traveling (a trip I was on, actually :P). I got a bit more careful about who I got in relationships with as I got older, because I had experienced the consequences of being compulsive. laandal Lara and Al Post Count: 55 Msg: #10 26 weeks ago, July 5th 2009 | We met a couple whilst travelling in Belize, they met in a bus in Cambodia and we're going to their wedding in Italy next month! | SQM SQM Post Count: 48 Msg: #11 25 weeks ago, July 13th 2009 | I fell asleep on a beach once, not very far up the shore. So when the waves washed in, the water would hit me too. A bunch of people were playing beach volleyball nearby and then their ball rolling over and sort of hit me, but I didn't feel it because I was in such a deep sleep. Then one of the guys walked over and apparently asked me if I was okay, at which point I didn't respond. He thought I was drowning in the water earlier and got washed up ashore. So he tilted my chin backwards and started to listen to my pulse, in attempts to "rescue" me. I woke up just in time before he actually began the rescuing breathing. So it was a rather awkward way to meet, but a little vacation fling sprung out of that. We're now friends and still keep in touch. The story of how we met always provides for some good laughs, but I have assured him that I do actually know how to swim. | liliram liliram Post Count: 402 Msg: #12 23 weeks ago, July 27th 2009 | Wow, SQM. That is some story. | SQM SQM Post Count: 48 Msg: #13 23 weeks ago, July 27th 2009 | Yes it is, I also hope to never relive anything like that. Meeting someone is great, but I'd just prefer to meet them in a far less embarrassing or awkward way. | Number of Users: 7 | Number of Posts: 13 | |||||||||||||||||||||||
