There are plenty of companies willing to help with documentation but for a fee usually 15% of the bill. So our question to you is how difficult is it to organise it ourselves? | We will be driving down from Yorkshire (England) with the rest of our troops and already know where the reception and accommodation will be at. Villa Belvedere, as most of my family have stayed there and know the owners quite well. Its right on the lake front and perfect for our small intimate wedding we want. The plan is a garden wedding non religious overlooking the lake. So as i have said, any help would be much apprecaited. Do we have to use a company or is it possible for us to do it all direct, also any ideas on price? Many thanks in advance. I dont however know which doccuments etc are necessary and whether you can get an international marriage certificate there. I deleted your duplicate post from the chat forum. If you look in the UK edition of Conde Nast Traveller's BRIDES magazine, 2009 March / April Edition. There is a wedding write up there for the wedding of I think the features editor of that Magazine. Her wedding was held in Perugia Italy at a hotel called Torre Di Moravola. I suppose you could call the magazine or the hotel and see how easy it would be to organize. The hotel I think is sort of small only seven rooms, and the wedding essentially took up the whole hotel. This is however not near Lake Como, which is your intended region. Hope this helps. Warmest regards, Mike. artzigirl claudette Post Count: 1 Msg: #6 185 days ago, May 10th 2009 | hey Lee & Emily, I'm not sure how much of this will be the same for the UK as I'm American. My fiance are to be married in just a couple of weeks. | This much I know for sure. First step is to get a recent (dated within the past 6 months) official copy of both birth certificates and if either have been previously married you will need the divorce paperwork, also dated and official within the past 6 months. Italian law requires that all documents to be up to date that way. You will then need to have those documents translated into Italian and take them to the Italian consulate closest to you and get an "Atto Notorio". That states that you are both free to marry and usually the Italian consulate in your country can recommend a translator for the documents and the Atto Notorio. You then need to visit the UK consulate in Italy with paperwork to get the "nulla osta" (certificate of no impediment) I think I read that UK citizens can actually mail theirs in. Check this site for more info http://www.magicmomentsitaly.co.uk/British.Consulate.Marriage.Notes.pdf Then you must have the nulla osta leagalized which is done at a prefettura (located in many cities). Then you need to go to the city you desire to wed and go to the registrar and state your intent to marry. You could then have a few days waiting period. You should already make the reservation for the hall. Depending on where you wish to marry, you may only be able to have a civil wedding at the town hall. Now if you you are not both UK residents....it all changes. Good luck and I hope this helps. I'll let you know next month if ours goes flawlessly. ;o) cj Number of Users: 5 | Number of Posts: 6 | ||||||||||||||
