Has anyone ever met a travel buddy in person on here or any other travel website? What I mean is, has anyone ever met someone to travel with on here or any other travel website? If so how did it work out for you? I was just wondering because I don't really know anyone who enjoys/wants to travel, and I'm not very big on traveling alone due to this crazy world today, though I would love very much to travel alone if I could. All responses are quite appreciated :).

I did meet Mike and Sarah for a pre-Christmas dinner, we had an amazing evening. I'm lucky to ave a great family, so not really interested by travelling with other, but it's a great way to meet new people.

I have never actually looked for somebody to travel with here. I do however like to meet up with people for drinks and a chat.

I met Occasionally Bob on the Christmas day just gone by, in Agra, Delhi.

I send out a few messages most times I go some where - looking to see who blogged recently from where I am and suggesting a coffee - I've been lucky enough to meet many many wonderful people due to this and them getting in touch with me; too many to list here!

In Cambodia last week I sent out maybe 5 quick messages - and met up with Shoshana in Asia and Cambodia Correspondent

Some tips;

- don't get offended if you don't get a message back - they might have already moved on, or not see your message, or worry that you're a stalker ;)

- meeting for a coffee is a great networking and information exchange opportunity, you'll meet people that you might not meet otherwise due to differing travel styles.

- there are sites specifically for hosting/home stays - couch surfing, hospitality club - so if you're looking for someone to host you - you'll probably have more success there.

- look for someone blogging - use their blog to gauge whether they are genuine or not - someone who has travelled and blogged won't be a scammer - someone with a single blog offering tours of XYZ is probably/possibly looking for some benefit.

- suggest a time and place as early in the exchange sequence as possible - neither of you know the place well so choose an obvious restaurant or coffee shop - say you'll be there unless you hear otherwise - you may get stood up - but it probably because your message wasn't received - take a book :) have a coffee and relax.

- if you have a phone - send your number - a surprising number of people can send SMSs.

Ps. If anyone is heading through Kuala Lumpur - I'm happy to have a coffee!

For anyone looking to meet people on TravelBlog, I suggest you post a bit on the forums to show what type of person you are.

Sometimes I get messages from people with no blogs and no or very few posts on the forums. Friendly as I am, those people get no response. If you are a man, women will feel more comfortable meeting with a guy who displays that he is a genuine traveller and normal guy.

Well, me i love to meet people from other country if they are going to come here in Philippines. For me its a one way to gain friends and to share information.

Im genuine kind of person who love to have friends and to treasure them. Down to earth and love to smile all the time.

No no... he's not a TravelBlog member,,, that's why it surprised me last time that he found my post thru search engine. and I was so bloody lucky that he found me, so he flew from USA to do the Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake with me for 18 days. I could say, anyone that love nature usually quite an open minded person, caring, and easy to get along with... and we usually share the same interest that make it even lots easier to adjust ourselves with each other. I did an extreme thing last year, trekking the unknown with a stranger and prove that meeting your travel buddies along the way is quite an experience worth to try. You have no choices than helping each other anyway when you're in the middle of no where!

Yes...i did...i met this friend from Britain...who was travelling to India for the first...and we met in New Delhi..went to see Rajasthan and Agra together...its a great experience...to know people from different cultures..knowing about their homeland..while telling them about own...i think it suits my philosophy of life -- meet new souls....thats the way you can ease your troubles on the journey of life...
