Visiting Malaria epidemic prone areas out of transmission seasons

I'm travelling to Oshakati, in North Eastern Namibia in October. The WHO classifies this area as being Malaria epidemic prone but also states that that Malaria transmission season is from January to April (although i've read as early as November on other WHO webpages). Do I need to take my anti-malarial medications if I'm travelling to a malaria prone area outside the transmission season? Might seem like a silly question but I would like to protect myself but also not waste my pills, saving them for my further travels.

Thanks.

Hello Nilgun :)

I wouldnt bother with the pills if you are there outside the Malaria transmission season. Why take them if there is no Malaria being transmitted? And taking them is harsh on the body so is to be avoided if not necessary.
