 MNwanderer Kendra Crowell Post Count: 4 Msg: #1 106 days ago, August 21st 2008 | I will be travelling solo to Nepal at the end of September and was wondering if anyone had any advice for travelling as a woman? what to expect, places to avoid, how to handle difficult situations, trekking alone, etc. Any tips would be much appreciated! | I am also looking into doing some volunteer work for awhile while I'm there. It's been somewhat difficult to contact NGOs and organizations via internet, and have been told it's easier to go to Kathmandu and to the research in person. Many sole westerners visit Nepal every year & they do trekking in the high Himalayas with Male Guide for days to days. There is no any sexual harassment. But in the same time you should respect the Culture too. This is highly appreciated though Nepalese women more fashionable & more westernize. I have done quite a bit of research and although this will be my debut to solo travelling, I do believe am not naive to what I may, or may not, encounter.
