Welcome to Korea!
Let me introduce a course for a one day Seoul tour.
To begin with, visit KyoungBokGung, Insadong, CheongGyeCheon, Namsangol Traditional Korean Village and lastly, you can finish this tour to enjoy behind view of Seoul at the N Seoul Tower.
Shall we go to KyoungBokGung? It was built by King TaeJong of Joseon dynasty. I would like to recommend some typified places of the KyoungBokGung. If you arrive on time, you will see "the chief of gatekeepers' changing ceremony" in front of the gate.
GeunJeongJeon is the main audience hall where a king managed state affairs, received foreign representatives, held a congratulatory ceremony and so on. On the way to the GeunJeongJeon from the gate, you can see the 12 animals of a zodiac.
I think KyungHoeRu is the most beautiful place in KyoungBokGung. It's a pond. A king held a ceremony for foreign ambassadors here. The water still flows to this day because of my ancestor's great designd. Oh, KyungHoeRu is on the back of the \10,000 bill. It might be an another joy to compare these two.
Another place that I want to recommend is GyoTaeJeon. It's a place that the queen stayed. At those times, women who came into the palace could not leave before they died. So, designed the space, so that they could feel the change of four seasons.
In addition these, there are many places to look around. I hope you get an impression for visiting KyoungBokGung. Let's move to the next location, Insadong.
Insadong is near Gwanghwamun (the front gate of Gyeongbok Palace). Insadong is near Jongno 3ga station, Subway Lines 3 and 5. In Insadong street, there are many stores that selling traditional things of Korea and delicious foods - like a 'Jeonju-pibimbab' (boiled rice with assorted mixtures), a 'sujebi' (a clear soup with wheat flakes), a 'traditional tea' and a 'makkolli' (brew rice wine). Also this street has a variety street foods - 'kkultarae' a taffy like a thread, a pumpkin taffy, a Chinese stuffed pancake, roast chestnuts.
Cheonggyecheon (Cheonggye creek) is near City Hall station, Subway Lines 1 and 2. There are many bridges and birds - egrets, common herons, long-tailed tits. There are often events of various kinds - a folk game experience activity, social services, an exhibition, a wall of marriage proposal. So many people come here.
Namsangol Traditional Korean Village is near Chungmuro Station, Subway Line No. 3. There are traditional house forms and furniture, a small museum and handmade mementoes. You can understand the structure of traditional house - 'ondol-system'(Korean underfloor heating) and the ventilation arrangement. Also You can play a traditional game. It's attractive.
The N Seoul Tower is located in Mt. Namsan. Mt. Namsan has a signal fire-system. There is an observatory where you can see a panoramic view of Seoul. A night view of Seoul is especially fascinating.
Seoul has many other fascinating and spectacular places. Longer travel might be better than a one-day trip if you want to discover the many attraction of Seoul.
