So far, I have not had too much luck finding a position via online searches. A couple of schools have said that I could call for an interview once I'm there. But as my money situation is not too flexible, I would much rather find a job before flying there. | Does anyone have any suggestions re: openings or schools I should contact? Any help would be appreciated! Yano Yanal Kassay Post Count: 4 Msg: #2 434 days ago, August 31st 2008 | Have you tried to call from Thailand? I realize the costs might be pretty ridiculous, but my understanding is that the schools are afraid of hiring someone who doesn't quite speak English after all. Also, if you have a teaching degree (I've forgotten the acronyms), there are always institutions like the British Council. I know a few people who are or have been teachers here in schools, the BC, other language institutions, and as private tutors, and I don't believe it would take long at all to land something. There always seem to be new openings. | I suppose the real question is - how long do you think you'd be able to go assuming you don't find work off the bat? If the answer is 'a month or two,' I wouldn't worry. Also, does it have to be teaching? Assuming you have a facebook account, you could change your network to Jordan and check out the marketplace as well as make contacts. Also, check out couchsurfing.com. It's purpose is to provide people with a place to stay while on their travels (hence the name), but it's also a good place to find people (foreigners and locals alike) based in Jordan and find out if they know anyone/anything. Kind of a jumbled response, but there really are so many places from which you can start. Based on your response, I should be able to elaborate. Cheers, and good luck!
