Of course being thoroughly exhausted and out of my element with low-key travel, I can't come up with anywhere to go. We've thought of Oregon Wine Country, Maine or Cape Cod but they all seem a little spread out like there would be alot of driving vs. just chilling out somewhere. We are hoping for some good suggestions so if you had this opportunity where would you go or if you have been to these places do you have any great tips/advice? Thanks so much for your comments! Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. If you're looking to relax in wine country we would absolutely have to recommend St. Helena in the Napa Valley area. We may be biased having just blogged and reminisced about it quite heavily, but really it was both relaxing and extremely pleasant while we were there. | Another suggestion, since you mentioned Oregon, would be Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast, not too far from Portland. Wonderful things have been said about the Stephanie Inn--I've never had the opportunity to stay there but if you're looking for a resort/spa type destination that would be the place you'd want. thejagman charlie hartley Post Count: 4 Msg: #3 156 days ago, August 6th 2008 | If you would like a combination of low key and beautiful beaches consider St. Augustine fl. It is the nations oldest city with a lot history, sightseeing many places within walking distance from the downtown hotels, motels and b&b's. St. Augustine is on the northeast coast of fla with beautiful atlantic coast beaches about a ten minute drive from downtown. If you would like to stay at the beach there are some very nice places to stay. St. Augustine is a very low key laid back town offers things to do and a good place for some R&R. If you are going to fly to a destinations St. Augustine is about a hour drive from the Jacksonville International Airport. Where ever you go I hope you have a good time. | horseyone Jackie Johnston Post Count: 1 Msg: #4 153 days ago, August 9th 2008 | How about a dude ranch....the White Stallion Ranch in Tucson Arizona is just the place your looking for. I have been twice and am going back again in October. Once you are there, you won't need to leave for anything. All meals, rides, and most ameneties are included, some of which are: tennis courts, basketball court, pool, hot tub, and gift shop. They also have on on-site massuesse. The scenery in the desert is absolutely beautiful. They are adjacent to the Saguaro National Park, and many of their rides take you into the park. | If you have never been on a horse in your life, they have the horse for you. I have seen people who have never ridden, loping by the end of their stay and loving it. Of course if you don't wish to ride, there is still plenty to do! Or NOT to do if that is what you want! You can't help but feel unstressed here. The food is outstanding and plentiful....you won't go hungry. They will pick you up at the airport and take you back at the end of your stay. And finally a word about the owners and staff, they are probably about the most accomodating and friendliest bunch of people you will ever meet. Check out their website: www.whitestallion.com for more detailed information. I don't know how soon you have to take your trip as they do not re-open til Aug.31, but if that is in your time frame, they are well worth looking into. Good luck where ever you decide to go!
