Long sleeves? I was thinking jeans and a t-shirt, but I've been doubting whether that would be covered up enough. Also, what should I bring to enter mosques? Any other cultural suggestions are welcome. I am an obsessive packer, so I appreciate any info!! What did you regret not taking to Egypt? Medicine? Thanks everyone!! Have a scarf in your pocket to put on if men are bothering you(especially in out of the city places). The scarf is seen as a symbol of respectability so any man trying to bother your will generally take the hint when you take that out, put it on and move away from him. These clothes should be suitable for visiting mosques too. Sandals should be OK if you are going when it is warm there. Dont let any man touch you, not even to shake hands. Sit beside women on buses etc. Dont smoke cigarettes in public because it will be seen in a way that you wont want to be seen. You can smoke waterpipes in cafes. It will initially amuse the men in there but they wont bother you about it or anything else while you are in the cafe because of the hospitality tradition. There are pharmacies in Egypt so you dont need to bring medicine. Maybe bring some band aids and whatever else you have that is small and useful.
