How much does it cost? How would you recommend getting there? Is it worth it on my last weekend in Japan?

Hi Aleksandra,

I would say definitely, particularly if you can manage an overnight.

Here's an English train schedule site; www.jorudan.co.jp

I planning on heading there for a few days next month :-)

Hi, I did the trip a few years ago, just for the day with a friend who was visiting.

I ended up booking a tour with JTB Sunrise tours because it was just easier for cramming in everything I wanted to see instead of arranging it on my own by local train. I liked the tour, which I wrote about here: http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/Japan/Tochigi/Nikko/blog-72935.html

The tour wasn't too expensive and was worth it for the full day trip.

We also stopped in this hostel which is walk out of town but in great location and the owners were really helpful, they didn't want you to miss seeing anything.
