Winter or Spring?

I will be going to school next year in Scotland and am looking forward to doing traveling while abroad. I am planning a trip which will cover Spain, Portugal, and Morocco and was wondering if it would be better for me to go during my winter break (December 20- January 11) or my spring break (March 28 - April 19). My main concerns are over cost, temperature, and areas being too overcrowded.

Thank you!

Hello Kara :)

It dont think it will be crowded on either of the times of the year you are considering. They are outside the tourist season.

One problem with the first option is that a lot of places will be closed for Christmas. I would go with the second option unless you are sure your can prebook hotels in Spain and Portugal.

If you are looking for beach temperatures maybe you would get lucky with the second option.

It all depends on your pocket, a friend of mine lives in Lisbon, Portugal and she told me that its all rainy in winter and there will be no use to go there. I planned to go for Majorca in Spain but a weather report on www.majorcainspain.co.uk/weather.html told me these islands receive 25% of their average rain fall of a whole year just in the month of December, means going to Spain in Christmas days will again not be a good idea.
However, you can check your own weather planners first (and that is my advise, the most important thing is weather, if you caught up in rain during your tour, there will be no use of going).
I suggest go for Morroco instead, it will not be very cold in there and that country has got its own lively history too like Spain.

Spain is the best for me. Off course portugal is a great place with a tropical weather, and morocco is a great place to shopping if you like an antique stuffs. But spain have a good dining experience and you can enjoy a fabulous spicy food. The best time to go is in june. You can find a lot of interesting tourist, yet its not as crowded as jul
