We don't want to spend more than $100/night for a room. Since we are there for a limited time...what are the main things to see? And finally, are there some neighborhoods that we need to steer clear of? Thanks for any information you may have! -Kellii Sir Halberd Hal Post Count: 99 Msg: #2 162 days ago, July 31st 2008 | I always stay in the Ermita area of Manila. http://www.hoteltravel.com/philippines/manila/ermita_map.htm This area is popular with many tourists. From this area you can walk to many places like the MRT, casino, restaurants, antique shops, travel agencies and the Robinson Mall. This Robinson Mall is pretty big! This area has hotels in many price ranges, a hotel around half your price is not that bad. This area is close to the Roxas Blvd where the US Embassy is at and not that far (short meter taxi ride) from where the new Mall of Asia is located. There are some bars in this area but they can be ignored or you can go in and have a dinner and a couple drinks. The bars are frequented by many tourists and have daily drink and dinner specials. | Hotels: http://www.hoteltravel.com/philippines/manila/hotels.htm http://www.citygardenhotels.com/lotus/main.html http://www.citystatetowerhotel.com.ph/ I used the City State and Lotus Garden, both on Mabini when I was last in Manila. Both places had air, hot water, maid service, free breakfast, TV and security box. Both hotels will allow you to store some items with them while you explore the rest of the PI. Things to see and do: http://www.wowphilippines.com.ph/explore_phil/place_details.asp?content=thingstodo&province=80 http://www.holidaycityflash.com/philippines/manila_things_todo.htm http://www.essortment.com/travel/toptouristattr_slqs.htm I liked the Corregidor tour (sample info link: http://www.boristravel.com/corregidor%20packages.htm) but you can get the ticket to the island and boat ride cheaper than this link. Good luck. SurfsUp1977 Kellii Wood Post Count: 2 Msg: #3 162 days ago, July 31st 2008 | Thank you so much! That was a HUGE help! | Number of Users: 2 | Number of Posts: 3 | |||||||||||
