I will be traveling to Costa Rica in September and I am looking for any suggestions as to where in stay my 1st night in San Jose. My flight gets in around 9pm so I would prefer a hotel that has airport pick up. My budget is a bit flexible but I would like to stay around $30 a person. Also I will be traveling with my boyfriend so I would prefer a private room. Any suggestions of where to or NOT to stay would be very helpful!

The nicer ones I liked were the Barcelo, Holiday Inn, and The Marriot at the below link. The Barcelo is my favorite. They messed up my room one tme and comped champagne and lowered the room price. They were truly concerned about the mistake they made. Holiday Inn is located in an area I don't like, but the hotel is very nice. The Marriott is nice as well, but it is located a bit out of the way.

for the money and convenience go to Casa Alfie, just off 2nd. Avenue, about 100 meters south of the Museo Nacional across the street from Colegio de Senoritas(that's a real joke.....especially in Costa Rica) Alfie is from South Africa and a real nice guy. You will not get ripped off or catch bedbugs......especially from some of the known hostels or even high end hotels!! tell Alfie Antonio sent you!!!
