| How to get a visa for those NOT eligible for working holiday visas? | |||||||||||||||||||||
Squash Blossom Sarah Sandri Post Count: 2 Msg: #1 62 days ago, July 7th 2008 | My partner and I are planning our trip to WWOOF in New Zealand. The WWOOF website infers that you need to have some sort of working visa even if you're volunteering. I am (under 30) eligible for a traditional working holiday visa, but my partner is not (over thirty). Clearly, we do not have traditional jobs waiting for us persay, but I am not sure what kind of visa he should apply for. Any advice from folks over thirty who have wwoofed? We want to go through the proper channels. Thanks!! | Mell Mel Fla Post Count: 3636 Msg: #2 62 days ago, July 8th 2008 | Hello Sarah :) | I moved this to the Oceania forum. They seem to have a check which will tell you what kind of visa you will need. | www.migrationbureau.com/newzealand/ WWOOF Andrew Strange Post Count: 1 Msg: #4 35 days ago, August 3rd 2008 | Hi, NZ immigration has said that they prefer people to have a Working Holiday Visa when they coming WWOOFing in NZ. For many people this is not a problem but not all countries have a WHV agreement (eg Austria and Switzerland). If you are over 30 you can contact BUNAC www.bunac.org who may be able to help you get a Working Holiday Visa. Some travellers have got themselves in to a bother when coming though immigration when they proudly announce "I have come to work in NZ"! Of course this starts more questions. | We are aware that many people come to New Zealand on a visitors visa and once here they decide to do some WWOOFing. They don't seem to have too many problems doing this as they are mainly wanting to live with a Kiwi family and experience life on a NZ organic farm. In Australia the government actually promotes this situation - people doing some WWOOFing while on a visitors visa. You can find more info about WWOOFing on the association website www.wwoofinternational.org - good luck. Andrew [Edited: 21:39 - WWOOF ] Number of Users: 4 | Number of Posts: 4 | ||||||||||||
