Good news today.....tourists are once more allowed in to Tibet from Nepal. I have been in contact with an agency...Getaway Himalyan Eco-Trekking. Anyone ever hear of them before? Good reports? Bad? Indifferent? They have been pretty good with my queries and emails so far. The other one I am considering is Himalayan Dreams. Both are based in Kathmandu and apparently I need to have an agency sponsor me if I want to get to Lhasa. Thanks. Almost every company sales trip to tibet, but in reality they didn't operate tibet tour themselves... I think it's not a good idea to booking your tibet trip from abroad specially with nepali company. | All the best, Neil WanderAndWonder Brian Searwar Post Count: 40 Msg: #5 59 days ago, August 13th 2008 | Hi, | Why do you think it's not a good idea to use a Nepali company? I tried to get a company in Tibet but I am unable. Also, I need to get visa arranged while I am in Nepal and I need an agency to help me with that. I have looked into applying for a visa myself from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu and was told that is not possible. Any suggestions? Is it safe to go there now? kanjiroba Neil Chettri Post Count: 3 Msg: #8 55 days ago, August 17th 2008 | I don't mean to say it's not a good idea to use Nepali Company, but it's not a good idea to make your trip booking from abroad speially for Tibet... it is quite complicated, since you're coming to Nepal I hope you won't have any problem finding a right company for your tour arrangement to Tibet and remember The Chinese Emabssy will never grant you any visa for Tibet, they have some rules and regulation you'll get visa and permit for Tibet only if you apply through authorised travels and tours operators. I'm still waiting for Chinese government's new policy to Tibet. | cindy125 cindy leung Post Count: 1 Msg: #9 51 days ago, August 21st 2008 | There are several websites relating to Nepal travels and tours. But some of sites are created with fake name with out legal registering company, and individual guide also having webpage creating fake company name. So, before you select it's recommended to varify it's legal status etc. | I had tried a trip with www.egtours.com They were good. All the group members must be same national. 2. It takes minimum 5 working days to obtain Chinese visa and Tibet group permits. 3. Traveller must stay in Kathmandu at least for one week during chinese visa process. 4. The only way to entry and exit to & from Tibet is flight. To find realiable tour agency it's quite difficult, but still it's possible. Wish you all the best. sxg Tony Sun Post Count: 7 Msg: #11 17 days ago, September 24th 2008 | Contact an American company called High Asia. they arrange everything, they come recommended in the major guide books, do the legwork for you. They are on the Internet. They hire the guides and drivers from companies they work with in Tibet and Nepal. They get the permits for you and deliver them to you. You can do all of this on your own there, but why take the chances. | Great trip! Enjoy! Number of Users: 7 | Number of Posts: 11 | |||||||||||||||||||
