In August, my son and I are travelling to Europe for 14 days, flying in and out of Frankfurt.(I am using my points). Our main countries of interest are Italy, France and we will travel by train. Main concerns are how to find good clean accommodation and food as we are on a very tight budget. What do you do with luggage when visiting attractions.i.e. Vatican City and so on. Again we appreciate your advise. If your son is not too young you could stay in hostel dorm rooms. Those are generally inexpensive. Hostels usually/always have lockers in which you can leave you valuables. Some have lockers big enough for a backpack. If they dont have lockers big enough for a backpack there is usually a storage room in which you can leave you bags for day even after you have checked out. Hostels often also have cooking facilities so you could shop at the supermarket and then cook which will make eating economical. You can do it on the internet by paying a small deposit with your credit card. Google hostels and the name of the city or town you will be staying in and a list of hostels will come up. | When you are in Rome be careful which hostel you choose. Some of them have age restrictions. For example some are for under 30s. Others are for age 30 to 40. Be sure to choose one which can accomodate both you and your son.
