I won't have a tent with me so are these available at the sites? travellersoul Swar Shah Post Count: 59 Msg: #2 129 days ago, June 3rd 2008 | I am not aware of any campsites which provides tents. However, you can consider buying one from walmart or target.. it will cost you around $30+.. I think if any campground provides you a tent, it might cost you the same! | Check out Big Sur Camping for camp ground listing. Bearing in mind I'll be there in September so should be warm enough. | I think it might be a better way to experience California than staying in motels/B&B's plus the parks should be quite cool? Then I can just ditch the tent and sleeping bag in LA as I go off on the rest of the RTW ? travellersoul Swar Shah Post Count: 59 Msg: #4 129 days ago, June 4th 2008 | Yep... Sounds like a plan to me! | Coastal area might be a bit cold... however, noway below zero... may be around 10-20 C. Sleeping bag would cost you around $14-20... If you want warmer, then probably $30. I hope you are renting a car; as big sur has minimal public transportation. qwertyjjj J Webster Post Count: 106 Msg: #5 129 days ago, June 4th 2008 | Yes, car from SF. | Any other camping tools and I can probably just buy on route such as food, disposable BBQ, etc.? travellersoul Swar Shah Post Count: 59 Msg: #6 129 days ago, June 4th 2008 | yeah... there are a few grocery stores/restaurants on the way.. many of the campsites will provide you fire-ring for campfire. | Check out my blog - Magnificent Big Sur.
