Any ideas on where to stay?...if this is doable?....anything I need to add on or cancel. Also how many days in each city would you suggest? We are living in Geneva at present. Thanks a lot for all your help!! Mell Mel Fla Post Count: 4105 Msg: #2 132 days ago, June 2nd 2008 | Hello Kashmira :) | I would spend at least 3 nights in each city. More is better. I will leave the where to stay question to somebody else. I have never driven around Europe so have no idea about car accomodation. I agree with Mel, spend more time in fewer cities. I found the best place to stay when travelling by car is not in the city centre but in smaller villages close to the major cities or on the outskirts of towns - this way you are guaranteed a car park, but more importantly, you receive the best advantage in having your own car - being able to get away from the bustle of the cities. This is particularly true in Austria and southern Germany where the scenery around the smaller villages is superb. Austria is a great country to drive around, but give yourself time to appreciate the view along the way. I would suggest that trying to fit Berlin into your plans is quite ambitious - you need many days there, and it is just as easy to train it to that destination instead. As for distances between other places - You need under a day to travel between each of Salzburg-Munich-Vienna-Prague and Budapest. However, Warsaw is a bit more of a drive though it is still achieveable in under a day. Overall, my suggestion for 10 days would be to stick to Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and return via Southern Germany (or vice versa). Hope this helps... Its still been a struggle finding accomodation!! | bubble 1800 barbara kner Post Count: 1 Msg: #5 64 days ago, August 8th 2008 | hi kashmira, | a bit late, but maybe helpfully for other travellers :) the route from munich to salzburg will take only 1,5 hours, from salzburg to vienna approximately 3 hours. in munich and salzburg i would spend one night - they are quite small. in vienna you can stay 5 days and longer, without beeing bored. but leave your car in the outlying districts and take the tube or busses, parking within the gürtel (these are districts 1-9) and districts 2 and 20 is quite expensive. if you like to see some gorgeous places leave the motorway on your way from salzburg to vienna at mondsee and turn south. you drive past mond- and attersee, bad ischl and maybe stay one night in bad aussee or altaussee - enjoying the superb view (altausseer see and totes gebirge). via ennstal - liezen - st. michael - semmering to vienna. this route salzburg - vienna will take 6-7 hours, but its worth! prague is a beautyful city, i have been there for 2 nights and i think, that's o.k. berlin is one of my favourite cities. i have been there two times, eatchtime one week, and i am sure i will be there once again. so i don't think, that you can manage it to stay only two or three nights ;) Number of Users: 4 | Number of Posts: 5 | |||||||||||||
