What tours should I go on? Is the North Island worth going to when I have a very limited budget and time? What tour should I go on?

I am going to New Zealand from July 1 to around July 9 and I am wanting advice as to what I should do. I am not a very experienced traveler so I am not so comfortable with trying to find ways around by myself or driving a rental car by myself, but I want to see as much as I can. Skiing is not really for me so I rather see natural sights and possibly skydive. I am on a limited budget as well! Any suggestions as to tours I should take and what I need to see. Also, any suggestions for the cheapest flight over from Sydney (the cheapest I have found is jetstar). Thanks so much for your help!!!

Hi Autumn,

I would recommend doing either a Contiki or Connections tour, although I don't know how many departures they have over winter. As you only have 8 or 9 days, then I'd recommend the South Island which is stunning! Jetstar and Virgin usually have cheap flights, but Air New Zealand and Qantas also have deals from time to time.

Hi Autumn,

Both North and South islands are worth doing, but I wouldn't recommend attempting both with the limited time you have. For scenery I would probably say yes, head to the South Island - but come back another time and see the North ;-)

I've used Bottom Bus before and was more than happy with them.

A few other links which might be useful;
National Parks

Skydiving;
Nzone
Skydive Abel Tasman
Tandem Skydive Taupo - North Island

Make sure you go skydiving! ;-)
