Time and budgeting for Central Asia/Middle East

Funds pertaining, I hope to travel for 6 months next year through Central Asia and the Middle East. Can I get some advice/info on money and how long it might take to do that?

Time

I did a very quick route - starting from inland China I want to go through the -stans, Iran, the Caucasus, then down through Turkey and the Levant countries (Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel etc).

Is 6 months enough time for this? Or am I rushing it and trying to cover too much ground? I dont want to rush it!

Money

Not including flights in and out, how much should I budget for the whole trip? Im pretty young and rather "thrifty" (love that word!) so I certainly don't mind doing it a bit rough. Whats an average cost per day for these places? This is a pretty important qn for me, this whole thing depends on whether I have enough money or not.

Im hoping to study Chinese in China for the first 6 months, and then do that journey for the latter 6 months. Im wanna go out with with a bang before joining the races... Any help on these matters would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello Sprucemoose :)

For Iran, you will need 10 to 15 US dollars per day on a backpackers budget including the price of bus tickets and not including the price of the visa.

I havent been to China for years so cant comment and have never been to the others on you list.

For India there are large no .of websites available

also a large no.of offers available on these websites that cud save u a lot of money

Hotel Lowest Rate Guarantee by <snip> Offers in India. It is by far the best website for travel bookings I have come across Instant cancellations, Quick buying and all tickets cover for its lack of offers
currently it is launching a lowest hotel rates guarantee scheme It offers double the difference back if we find a cheaper price than theirs.
for eg

others are <snip>
