Sam is trying to figure out the safe in our very nice hotel room. After a turbulent flight, short taxi drive and warm welcome from the lady on reception we have settled into our far too comfortable room and are now are off to explore Prague and maybe find some tasty cuisine and good hospitality… Took the tram through Hradcanska down to Malostranska Namka which is a nice open square with crazy architecture and huge buildings topped with gargoyles and angels gazing down imperiously. There are a number of different shops in the square including a small Czech supermarket where we purchased some local beer for an outrageous 21 pence a bottle. A theme seems to be glassware and there are numerous outlets lining the streets of the capital. From the square a cobbled street leads ... read more

Venice. It took a lot of hard travelling to get there. It was worth it to go somewhere a bit warmer for a couple days. It was well worth it. It may have a reputation as dirty, but its beautiful. It has real character.... read more

Supposed to be 40,000 people turn up! Rock and Roll! Few shifty coctails before the bus down there and we'll be rollicking. Started playing 5 a-side footy a couple of weeks ago. Big fun that. Spain is what lies between my life back home and where the adventure begins so its just a quick 2 day drive through and its a good job to. My last trip was pre Euro and Spain has gone Euro crazy with prices to match the UK somewhere there must be an enormous deficit left in the Euro pot after change over as its been the largest wool pulling over eyes exercise I have seen. You could once gaurantee prices half of that in the UK but no more. AS I head down to Gibralter it is obvious where a lot of money from the UK housing boom is going the south coast is litrally one villmage blended into another. Having arrived in Gilbralter on a Sat afternoon I am surprised to see a hiuge queue ... read more

The Czechs are a funny lot. It is as if the person that they spoke to just before you really pissed them off and so they decide to bite off your head for asking simple questions like directions. What is really surprising is that they can be sweet as honey just afterwards. I find that piling on heavy sarcasm just adds to the culture clash, but it is great fun. (3rd Nov) I am staying at a hostel in the party end of Prague and it shows. Life couldnt get any different here to Iran . It has a great bar downstairs, I popped down for a quiet drink with my book last night as I hadn't yet met anyone. Didn't read a page. Everyone had a story of a very heavy sesh the night before. ... read more
