In honour of our seven month anniversary together I thought I'd dedicate this entry to my dunlop volleys, Australia's finest sporting sandshoe. Made famous by the then unknown Mark Edmonson in January 1976, when he beat John Newcombe to win the men's singles at the Australian Open, the dunlop volley has established a reputation for reliability, versatility and comfort that is second only to the humble plugger. Durable, unpretentious and affordable they represent everything that is good about Australia. They are the holdens, the victa mowers and chesty bonds of the shoe world. The phar laps, the ned kellys and steve bradbury's of the great Australian dream. I love my dunlop volleys........ I love them for their truth. Come next Olympics we need to get those kangaroos off the bikes and into some dunnies god damn it.
