Grapes in AssisiWe found a cute little garden by the nuns quarters near the Basillica.
Tuesday: We made a day trip to Assisi and stopped at Santa Maria de Angeli there. Amazingly huge church. This is where the tomb of the heart of St. Francis of Assisi's is kept. We bought many beautiful rosaries and souveniers including holy water. The original chapel sits actually in the middle of the huge basillica and has a one person pew on both sides. This truly is the largest church I have ever been in. There are so many sections inside. Of course they forbid pictures. Hard to describe how ornate every detail is.
The Italians close their shops from 1:30 to 4:00 pm each day including restaurants. We are so used to everything being available to us 24 hours a day back at home so this really cuts into our day when traveling and touring.
Bertha and I got a personal blessing from one of the fathers there and he blessed us by name including all of our rosary purchases. That was a highlight for us.
We drove further to a cluster of churches on the top hill. Everything is always built on a hill with many beautiful tunnels and arches. All walls and pathways are
