I see the Light
This as good as it gets at taking a picture of a not-quite total eclipse at 1/2500th of a second shutter speed.
The Eclipse
It delayed Ramadan a few days and it was the first I’ve seen since Second Grade, so I thought it warranted its own entry. A solar eclipse went over Spain, and although we didn’t get the full eclipse that Madrid and northern Spain got, we had a really cool one. Almost the entire student population of the city was outside on the streets watching it. Some of the girls remembered how to do that whole paper hole thing that you might remember doing in second grade where it casts a shadow with the shape of the eclipse on it. I thought it was pretty funny so I had to take a few shots. One of the girls had a hand mirror to view it (apparently the UV gets filtered by the glass?) and Matt had some sunglasses, so between the two I took a picture that kind of came out. Not really much to say; it was definitely more of a visual experience. I’d still really like to see a full eclipse sometime, but the next one in this region isn’t for another 5,000 years or so. I’m not planning to be here for it, but we’ll see.

Ah, to be a kid again
My roommate tries his hand at the pinhole in the paper trick on the wall of the university.
My house family’s son Isaias didn’t see it; he and all his classmates thought it was just really cloudy outside.
