Okay, so it has been probably about a week since I last updated this, and while not too much happens in a week in Penny a lot seems to happen for ains and I.
After Lagos we caught a bus to Lisbon. Lisbon is just as beautiful as Lagos but a bit colder. We met these guys from Belgium who were studying in Spain and ended up hanging out with them for the day. We hired bikes and rode to a beach that one of the guys from Belgium had seen in a surfing video and was dying to see in real life. Bike hire was free! We love free stuff, apart from a bit of rain it was a great day. We then went to a cafe and each ordered Hanburger on a plate. When you hear that you can guess what you would get, well we thought we knew what we would get, but turns out that the only true part about that was that it was on a plate.
They brought out two beef patties, covered in cheese with a runny egg and olives around the plate. I wish I had taken a picture, it was
SpainBarcelona, Guadi Park, this is how we role
just so far removed from what we thought we would get. There was no bread, no lettuce, tomato! Still we were so hungry it didnt matter.
After Lisbon we caught an overnight train to San Sebastian. I can tell San Sebastian would be a great town to visit in the summer, but it was a bit average for us. It was very beautiful, like the beaches and the buildings, but it was dead. Ains got a really bad ear infection when we were there too, so we ended up watching a lot of Simpsons whikle she felt sick and it rained outside. We went to the doctor a couple of times, bought 50 Euro worths of drops and pills and jumped on a train to Barcelona.
If anyone reading this has been to Barcelona they will know what i mean by the town is so alive. Even though we are in low season, there are so many people here and there is so much happening, it is great. We are staying in Kabul hostel which is a great hostel for Backpackers and we are just meeting so many people and seeing so much. We went to Gaudi´s park
today which has to be one of my favourite things that I have seen apart from the Eiffel tower. gaudi´s park is huge, so we walked off the beaten track for a while and found a great spot where you can look out over all of Barcelona, so we lay in the sun for a couple of hours and listened to music, it was just one of those great times, where you dont have to be anywhere you can just relax.
Also, last night we went to see Bloc Party play. We were walking down Las Ramblas, which is the main street in Barcelona, and it is where we are staying and there happened to be a sign saying that Bloc Party were playing, so about a day and 20 Euro later we were seeing Bloc Party, which was one of the best conerts I have been too and it wasnt really crowded at all, we were right up the front. Good times.
We are going to hire bikes tomorrow and probably go to the beach then we are getting a flight out of Barcelona for Rome on Thursday morning.
Also, both mine and ainsleys credit cards
have been blocked due to overseas activity, thanks Westpac! So I´m off to go sort that one out now.
