Today is our last full day on board Jewel of the Seas. We spent a late night in Vortex until 3:30 AM spending fun time with the bar staff.

We played some team trivia and attended a lecture about the Jewel of the Seas operations, presented by Captain Thor and his staff, including his 2nd in command, the only female Staff Captain in the cruise line industry.

We also had to pack today in preparation for our long travel day tomorrow.

We had a nice dinner, said our goodbyes to our wonderful dining room staff and headed off to the theater to watch Danny sing in the Karaoke Super-Star competition. He performed quite well, but lost to a Frank Sinatra wanna be. We also got a kick out of the girl from Moscow, who sang “I Will Survive” in Russian.

We spent our final night in the Vortex visiting with Carlos and Pavlin, with plenty of hugs and kisses between all of us. We would all go our separate ways in the morning, since we had different transfer times and flights. It was a fantastic trip, and we all look forward to getting together soon on another Toni Tours Adventure.

The following morning, disembarkation went smoothly. But getting loaded into buses for the airport transfers were somewhat chaotic. Royal Caribbean needs to work on a more organized way of doing this, maybe by assigning people bus numbers.

The traffic from Harwich to London was horrible. We departed the cruise terminal at 08:30 AM and did not arrive at the airport until after 12:30 PM. We checked in for our flight and found a pub to have some lunch. We did a bit of duty free shopping, visited the airport Harrod’s shop and boarded our plane.

Thankfully, the trip back to New York went smoothly without delay. We waited a while at JFK to clear customs, but received our luggage without much wait.

Our last piece of adventure, was the whirlwind car service ride home. The driver was so bad, we almost made him pull over. We hoped we would not become a home statistic after our 2-week adventure in Europe.

Toni Lanotte-Day
I have a passion for traveling and have logged a lot of miles to all seven continents. I am fascinated by the people I meet and their culture. I have used several forms of transportation on my journeys over the years and find that each one brings it own rewards. I escort a lot of groups known as Adventures With Toni Tours, in addition to my personal travel. My blogs cover both types. I hope you enjoy reading about my adventures, as much as I enjoy sharing them.... full info
