Let me back up to last weekend when Janet and I did London. We bitch slapped London. In one weekend we went to see Phantom of the Opera, Covent Gardens, Leicheter Square and Picadilly Circus, “221b Baker Street,” Westminster, Big Ben, Parliament, rode the London Eye, crossed the Millenium Bridge, saw St. paul and climbed to the very tip top (all 530 life-thratening steps), did Regent St. and Soho, saw Wedding Crashers in Leichester, and ate in China Town. Yes bitches, No cabs. Then my parents cam in Monday and they have been feeding me steak and lobster and I love them. Yesterday, I went to Canterbury with them. That was reallly cool. We got to see the Cathedral where the Thomas a Becket shrine was...the thing that all the pilgrims in the Canterbury Tales were ... read more
have just been exploring the country of Wales. Did a 3 day tour checking out some of the sites with 21 others. saw some pretty cool stuff - old ruined abbeys and a few national parks. Wales has some pretty cool history - all about kings and queens etc. visited this really cool place called Port Meirion, which is a village that some rich fella decided to build because he wanted his own village - imagine that! when you walk into the place its like you're in some mediteranian country because of the style of the buildings and the bright colours. the only downside is that its aimed at tourists and you have to pay to get in, but other than that its choice! visited some national parks - brecon beacon and mount snowdonia, stopped in ... read more
So it's Friday and I don't have class today. Yay! That's usually a sign that I need to go out of town. However, this weekend I will be participating in my first indoor ultimate tourney. It should be really really fun and interesting. I'm hoping to learn lots. Being that I don't have class I had planned on exploring Nott'm a little bit, but my plans were waylaid for several reasons. Mainly because I couldn't find a travel-around-town buddy which is essential and because it started to rain pretty good and exploring outdoor things in the rain is a sure way to getting yourself horribly wet and sick. Not good...thus my exploration of Nott'm has been put temporarily on hold. Instead I tried (somewhat in vain) to finish my part of the lecture presentation that I'm ... read more

Published: October 25th 2005Europe » United Kingdom » England » West Yorkshire » LeedsSince the last entry we have been visiting friends and family - interesting to us but no pictures to post. We went to Leeds this weekend to visit some friends. While we were there we went to the Royal Armories. This is a large building, it's a kind of museum for weapons and armour. - Matt... read more

My eventful summer
Published: January 27th 2006Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Stirlingshire » StirlingA big hello to everyone all over the world wherever you may be. My updating has been a bit on the slow side but as expected I had one hell of a summer. Many of you will already know the stories some of you may not but here is my summer in short. Road Trips Spent alot of my time getting to know the hills and lochs in central scotland. This included a few trips up Ben Ledi, Dumyat, and also a late night hike in the Gargunnock hills when me and my mate went off roading and got lost in the pitch black on a marsh/moor/bog. It was pretty funny and we half expected to have to spend the night on the hill. Luckily found the path - who knows how we lost it in ... read more

Hi, my name is Sarah Beth, and I dream about France under the occupation
Published: October 20th 2005Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Midlothian » EdinburghHave you ever woken up in the middle of the night to the terrible feeling that if you don't get to your laptop right now and write about France under the Occupation, you are going to lose the brilliant thesis to your first grad school paper before it ever had a shot to become a paper in the first place? Well, I have, and I decided to go to sleep...so I am not entirely sure what the brilliant thesis is. I do know that I spend the better part of my waking hours thinking about the Second World War, and now it has apparently crept into my sleep. Which leads me to today's list: 8 Symptoms to Diagnose History Overdose: 1.) You roll over to your significant other in the middle of the night muttering something ... read more
Dearhoof to Chatsworth
Published: October 25th 2005Europe » United Kingdom » England » Oxfordshire » OxfordHey guys, I have not up dated in a while because I have been sick all week, but I am feeling better now. One of the funnest things I did last week was on Tuesday night. I went to a pub called the wheat sheaf to see a concert. I only knew of the headlining band, which was Dearhoof. They are this crazy band from San Francisco that has a Asian girl lead singer. She was really cool. She would do this Tai Chi kind of stuff while she was singing that represent what she was singing about. And the band was also really good also. If anyone reading this is into indie rock I recommend you check them out. There was also this single guy that opened for them, who was not very good, (he ... read more
Busy, busy, dizzy...
Published: October 21st 2005Europe » United Kingdom » England » Nottinghamshire » NottinghamQuote to ponder: 'I'm tired of chasing my dreams. I'm just gonna ask where they are going, and hook up with them later.'--quote from Tristan Today is just craziness and coming off of Wednesday night 9am classes are the absolute worst. However, today's student lecture was really really good which is kinda scary but I have a long time to work on it, so that's a plus. After lecture I went to the student union to get some more paper, too much notetaking here!, and then headed to the library. I had to read a bit more about Saint's Cults before I met up with my group to discuss how we were going to give an entire lecture on the topic. It seems that I had not been reading the 'right' material and the direction to ... read more
