Egg #2 says: Thought I'd better write a bit about us Eggs to set our travel scene.... For about the last year, we've been getting our act together & making plans to leave the rat race, and seek fun and sunshine in countries that we've not yet visited. Two months ago, we both handed our notice in at work, rented out our house 30 miles south of Edinburgh (a seaside commuter town called Dunbar) and moved into a teeny flat in a central area of Edinburgh called Leith. We now have just over 8 weeks to go until we fly out [View Full Entry]

Beautiful England

It feels amazing to have no drama around me. Usually I'm surrounded with family gossip and problems, gossip among friends, etc. But here, because I am so cut off from the rest of world due to the fact that I have no net or a proper cell phone. I don't have to take crap from anyone!! No drama from family, from friends cuz they all miss me and love me right now..and definetly no man drama! LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!! In the beginning the idea of seclusion scared me, but now after weeks of having nothing to do but [View Full Entry]

The past few entries have been ones that I transcribed from my notebook. This is the first live entry I've made thus far whilst in Ireland. My outlet adapters were in my checked bags, so I couldn't boot up my computer until they came into Limerick. So when they did, I was excited to get started on this blog. Unfortunately, as soon as I plugged the adapter in the wall, my laptop charger - which had already been on the fritz - blew out. It wasn't until today that I was able to replace it. But all is well. The mac [View Full Entry]

So as many of you know I had a layover in London and I and three other girls who were on the same plane from Denver decided we had enough time and energy to explore London. As soon as we got to the underground station we had great luck and some of us (including me!) got free passes from people returning and leaving for the airport. With our day passes we got on the metro and headed toward the city. Our first stop was Covent Gardens because it sounded familiar and Jess wanted to see the theaters and dance halls. We [View Full Entry]

We’re really getting into the subject matter for each of our classes. It’s business as usual, as far as law school is concerned, with Professor Leeds (KU) and Professor Lenich (NU). Professor Quill of the University of Limerick, on the other hand, makes me feel like I’ve been transported back to undergrad. I’ve been told that law school in Ireland is taught at the undergraduate level… which may explain why we’re lectured for 70 minutes with almost no interaction. He’s an incredibly nice and intelligent guy… just a different approach I guess. Our group is also in the habit of eating [View Full Entry]

Arighty, so I'm in Oxford University at St. John's College. I think I'm finally figuring this whole Oxford in 39 parts thing... slowly, haha. This has been the first time I've gotten to a computer in a long time, it's a huge hassle to get on the internet with laptops (speaking of which, baccary, can you resend me your password with any capitalizations and do you have a security program like Norton or something?) Ok, anyways, sorry about that. Got to London on Thursday morning, met up with Seth at Buckingham Palace. Let's just say showing up at the Changing of [View Full Entry]

eh, they've pretty much gotten over it by now. Updates here: The phrase of the day today was "he sent another hare running" spoken by my Dickens teacher. He had a hard time translating it, but I think it means setting another thing to chase, another character, topic, something to try and follow. So yeah, that was a great one. My Shakespeare teacher started singing today and talking about penises and sex in The Tempest. He kicks Allen's class discussions on this play's ass. That is so bizarre that you woke up at 4:30 this morning. I got an email at [View Full Entry]

the gals

i'm back. How wierd. I've been llooking forward to returning 'home' for months but now i am here i can't help but want to leave again. Grey Grey Grey sky, Grey London, It lacks so much Colour. The cold air, no humidity, a cold breeze, clean orderly streets, sedate looking people with expressionless faces in suits (i am wearing some kind of cotton pyjama type things) going to work on the Tube!! the dreaded rat race!!. i can't stop laughing at how familiar this all is but also so strange. Little things like the news on TV, the accent the red [View Full Entry]
