Well, that was a cheering weekend. Sophie, Tom and Martha came from Glasgow to visit Grandma in hospital, and Mum and Martha had their first meeting - while Martha met Dad at a barbecue in the garden later. Sounds like consequences! We managed two trips to hospital, the second time we wheeled Mum out into the garden for a photoshoot!... read more

Ineke and I took a sandwich with us on a short walk along the canal at Guilsfield today. We looked for some caches but only found one - but the walk was lovely and we'll go again with my new phone to tell the GPS.... read more

A gang of us decided that a dawn walk at midsummer would be a nice thing to do, so although we were a bit late for dawn, we all met at 6AM - young and old - and walked the fields and lanes for a couple of hours before retuning to the old school for breakfast. That makes a change from Bingo! The Llangyniew community is on the move.... read more

Alex and I spent 4 days with our bell tents at a site at Tywyn, on the coast. There was plenty to do - walking along the estuary, riding on the narrow gauge railway, following the waterfall trails and of course paddling in the sea. And finding geocaches - I'm a bit hooked!Luckily the weather was fine .... in fact excellent, and we managed to get home again with dry tents. We had a lovely time.... read more

My "old" school friend Hilary was staying in Wales for a few days with her sister and her cousin, so we took the chance to meet for the afternoon, and went on a boat ride across the aqueduct at Froncysyllte. There was so much chat, that we relied on Alex to take the pictures.... read more

Another lovely day dawned. So after throwing 3 pairs of curtains in the wash, I set off to meet Kate at the halfway place between her house and mine. Which happened today to be at the canal. (If that sounds daft, there are one or two other walks about equidistant). It was glorious - we met a few boaters, and the dogs enjoyed the walk - Ruby swam as well. Then lunch, one cache grabbed, and back home to clean windows and hang the curtains. Phew.... read more

Alex had 4 days off together this week, so instead of taking an extra day's work as he usually does, we decided to drive up to Glasgow on Monday. We left at 5.30 in the morning, taking Maisie with us, and arrived about 11. Its 290 miles, door to door. Here are some pictures to show what we did.... read more

Yesterday was wet and windy - and did I mention COLD? - so Ineke and I decided it was not a day for gardening, and we went for a walk in the bluebell woods. It was lovely of course, we missed the rain and in the woods the wind was not so bad. And the smell.............. And today is spring, sunny, calm and warm, definitely a day for gardening, and for taking a flask of tea across to my wood to see the orchids. I expect the pictures don't do any of it justice, but still.... read more

I have read several articles recently about geo caching, so after a bit of research on google, Ineke and I decided to take Caroline on our first geo caching expedition. So armed with maps - but sadly no GPS phone - and 4 trusty blood hounds, we set off from Guilsfield, a village nearby. We had a lovely walk through woods and countryside, with the added excitement of looking for treasure. Ineke had worked out a route with 5 caches, though two were so well hidden that we never saw them. BUT we found three, and had a nice picnic in the sun as well.... read more
